As some of you know our stallion from Brazil came with some issues so I started him in harness and after breeding season started I started him under saddle (bareback and with just a halter) again. Although we hand bred withhim we mostly let him pasture breed our own mares. Shads quickly got over his fear of people, whips, fast movements and also equally as quick learnt to come to a whistle..even if it meant leaving his mares and their Sueno foals 1/2 mile out in the field!
Knowing we Respected him as a HORSE and a working PARTNER did wonders for his mind as well as his soul..which as you can see he has given to our son Olie : )
Interestingly, Olie is very ellergic to horses! Not ALL but MOST. He can not brush our Belgian mare Dixie yet he can hug her belgian daughter Goldie. He can not ride his Arabian mare for more then 5 minutes without getting watery eyes, rash, itching, runny nose sneezing, coughing etc..yet he can ride her daughter with just a bit of sneezing.
With Shads (Xadrez do Pentagono), I told Olie to stay away from the other hrses while I called Shads in and closed the gate. Olie rode him for 20 minutes, had lots of fun and then spent another 15-20 minutes playing with him and even sharing his slurpy with..even going as far as letting Shads SUCK on the straw..yeah, yuck..from horse mouth to his mouth. NO REACTION AT ALL, NO ITCH, NO RED WATERY EYES, NO RASH, COUGHIG OR SNEEZING!!

Great pictures! I love to see kids with horses, just wonderful. Horses are great therapy, and we've all been kids so we know how much kids need it at times! Smile

Thanks Very Happy Very Happy I think it is easy to see hw much these two love each other. Olie`s Goldie is right out side the fence then came over when we opend the gate to let Shads back out. He wanted to stay with Olie and get attention! If ever the wind stops I am working on his bull fight gear to Olie can ride him with the suit and feather hat. )
Nope you can see hw much they enjoy each other and how loving a calm Shads eyes have become since he`s been here. He bred 20 mares this years. Our first foals will be due in January/Februaru from him. Olie can`t wait as he got to make the breeding dississins on which mare got bred when and to whom this year. Og course he wanted them all bred to Shads so Shads can have "his own babies to look after". But merlin did breed a few outside mares this years then went back out into the far pasture with the other stallion and yearling and two year old colts. : )

we have 3 Andalusians, one is of the pure spanish bloodlines (PRE) Black bay, imported from Mexico, one is a Portuguese bloodlines (PSL or Lusitano) and imported from Brazil, Shads. and the youngest, the size of this year`s fals is Sueno, imported from Spain and is the ONLY Registered Luso-spanish DNA`d Cria Cabballar CDE Regstered Andalusian of his PSP(Pure Spanish Portuguese) breeding in the world. Although he can breed PRE mares to get foals put in that book, his most importatant papers are his IALHA papers so we in NA can register all his purebred and partbred foals and show them!

Thank you. I go back 12 generation on my breeding stock and one of these times I have to copy and post on here all that information. It is really interesting but LONG and I would need to do a complete topic on it!
They should do breed histories on here!

I can't wait to see some of the foals mature. They will be lookes.

Are you the only breeder of Adalusions (sp?) in Alberta?

Nope but most of them are going for the more arab or warmblood (even welsh pony looking in head!) and away from the breed strandards.
I`ll do a think tomorrow. I have to do the 100 year horse history with our horses. We are the only farm in Canada who has had a horse shown under our name in Brazil, imported the only double creams to Canada and also the only breeders of SPS horses from a horse registered in Spain showing PRE and PSL blood since the 1960`s : )
I had a mild heart attack here this last weekend so am taking it easy and should get to bed : )
More tomorrow!
