I once meet this very old farrier from alberta and he told me if your horses feet are very dry put used engine oil on them 2 times a week. I have done this and it works great.

Baby oil for any matted tails or manes!! Works great

Baby dipper cream for sun burns on horses noses!! Works excellent

Use crest tooth paste on horses warts!! Just did this to my guy and worked great. Never had heard of this before until now!! Must be crest tooth paste

My farrier told me about the engine oil thing too... although I've heard that its bad for their feet.

I use athletes foot for fungus. . . and coconut oil for their manes/tails (Although nothing is the same as cowboy magic!)

I also stay out of tack/feed shops unless I NEED something... I'm horrible at collecting and buying a million of one thing. Like halters and lead ropes... I only need 3!!

Apple Cider Vinegar and water..i think its one cup of vinegar to 2cups of water...anyway works very good for bug spray! and a lot cheaper...

Crest toothpaste Also works good on Ringworm as well! i believe grease works too for it, but i would rather toothpaste on my horseys face!

Preparation H...Yes ..lol...Works awesome if your horse gets wire cut! heals a wire cut soo awesome that it wont even leave a scar...depending on how bad (deep)the cut is.

And a Couple eggs in their oats before show season starts shines the coat better than any product out there!

Warts are caused by a virus and they generally are self-limiting so they shrink and drop off on their own with no treatment. This spontaneous recovery is probably the basis for the alleged effectiveness of many home treatments including rubbing with various kinds of oil, toothpaste of various brands, etc.

Nothing like time, green grass and sunshine to "cure" them.
A neighbor spent hours running his calves through the squeeze and applying Crest toothpaste to their warts and it didn't help in the least. Come spring when the calves went out on grass the warts all disappeared.

Re: using toothpaste on ringworm:
Ringworm is caused by a fungus and spontaneous recovery usually occurs after one to six months.
Sunlight will often help resolve the lesions. Nothing cheaper!

If you get about a 5 gallon bucket and a medium size bottle of apple cider vinegar put about 1/3 of the bottle in the bucket and then fill the rest up, then get a scruby brush and "bath" them in it then dump the rest of the bucket over them (front back to front or front to back) it keeps the flys away AND keeps them cooler during the day, it really works. I used to live in the states where for about 4 months is was over 100 degress F, and it worked like magic!

Great lil tidbit of info! The fact that warts leave on their own is something a few boarders here find unbeleivable. I got some pretty funny looks telling some I don't treat warts. Patience is the best cure :-)
