This may be as good a place as any to post my question.... how did everyone get started in showing? I have shown halter and harness draft classes in the past but they are completely different than light horse shows. I miss the ring and would love to get into showing but have no clue where to start.

I got started showing just by going to the open and schooling shows, they are really fun and laid back and the people there are usually alot more willing to help you if you have a question. And they are great for getting your horse back into showing as well just because of the laid back format you can mess up and no body cares its wonderful. Just find a show and go! LOL thats how I got started Very Happy

I haven't the foggiest idea on how to show. Found the poster for this hanging up in our local Sobey's and thought, what the heck, let's go...lol

Got to keep myself and the horses occupied somehow. Really looking forward to it and looking to see what it's all about. Been to shows in the past as a spectator so this will be a change.

I don't think I am confident enough for that. Plus, I think I may need some proper riding technique lessons as I am one of those farm kids that hoped on bareback and went. Maybe my first step would be a couple lessons --- anyone know a good coach (or even a good rider willing to give tips) in the Redwater area?? Oh well, one day I will get enough guts to try it. Plus Sam is more of a speed horse so going in circles at a loose rein would not be his thing. I can't wait until spring finally comes as then I can get the fence built at the new place, bring Sam home, and then get serious about finding a pasture buddy for him. One that is broke for western pleasure try hitting a show ring again....

You don't need to ride to take part in this. The girl I have now isn't broke to ride but does drive so I'm going to learn halter and showmanship and maybe try the inhand trail class. One of the girls at the barn used to show so she's gonna give me some pointers on what to do...
