Western Saddle Makes Empty Western Saddle Makes

Post  Sam Thu Jul 16, 2009 10:07 pm

Hey everyone. I am looking at getting a new (or new to me) western saddle but have no idea what brands/makes to seriously consider. As it is right now I only do pleasure/trail rides when I have time, so not too often right now with work and life. I am wanting to get something that is not too heavy and also affordable. I don't know if $1000 would buy me much, depending on the make. I don't really want to spend too much more since I usually only get out riding once a week, if that lately. In the winter I tend to have more time to ride but still not enough to justify a huge expense right now.

Does anyone have recommendations of what saddle makes to look at? I have had my current saddle since I was 16, so not sure what is all out there within my price range.

Go to a large tack store, like Welsh's, and sit in some saddles. I also went to a consignment store to check out more brands. Then check out www.Horsetackreview.com
Then kijiji.com to see what's out there and in your price range.
I got a decent Buffalo saddle for $350. Everyone who tries it says it's comfier than most, but it's a difficult fit on my mare. Good luck!
