Awesome tack store in Edmonton?
Hey all!
I'm looking for an awesome tack store in/around Edmonton! The only stores I've been to are Welsh's and Lammles (not that there is anything wrong with either of them!), but I'm wondering if there are any independent stores out there with a really wide selection of stuff? Where's your favourite spot???

Personally, I love Tudor Tack Shoppe, but they only carry english tack (but they still have alot of other accessories.. halters, grooming supplies, lunging equipment, etc). As a general all arounder, G&E Pharmacy is nice as well.... they have everything from horse things, to supplies for hamsters lol! Their feed can be a little pricey depending on what you're shopping for, I find the UFA in Leduc much better for buying feed (and they have EVERYTHING, all the time).
Also, just outside of Beaumont, there is a small boarding facility that has a LOVELY little tack shop, the property is Kel-J-Do... they're very friendly, and the store is absolutely charming!

Tudor has lots of h/j stuff.. if you need dressage stuff and they have catalogs for it they'll order it in in a jiff.
A Ride in the Park in Sherwood park is really good for breed stuff, h/j stuff and dressage stuff. They just changed owners so I don't know how much of the saem stock they are getting..
Before you Ride is a consignment place in Sherwood park, but they have new stuff. I really like this store! They have a bunck of western stuff, along with h/j stuff and a teeny bit of dressage stuff.
Horse Life is Edmonton's newest tack shop, it is owned by the lady who used to run Edmonton's Equi0products, but she split from them and has a new tack shop! I haven't been there but I would imagine that she is going to bring in a lot of the same stuff. Dressage, h/j, eventing, etc..
Welsh's is a good western tack shop too.
G&E is my love. I get horse food there and they randomly have sweet wholesale stuff, like rhinestone halters and cheap cheap horse boots. I don't shop there often, but if I see something on sale I usually grab it.
Oh I forgot to add! If you are looking for specifically h/j or dressage stuff, if you go to the big shows they almost always have tack shops there. Like Top Hat n' Tails which is totally mobile and only comes to shows, but has the best dressage stuff.

Re: Awesome tack store in Edmonton?
I'm looking for western stuff, and blankets - preferrably a store that carries several brands of blankets, specifically Rhino/Rambo and Weatherbeeta. Welsh's is great for western stuff, but they only carry their brand of blankets. Does anyone know if a Greenhawk is going to open up here anytime soon? I used to shop there all the time when I lived back in Ontario... great place for blankets and supplements/meds...

There is a Greenhawk opening up down in Red Deer soon I heard?
As for Rambo/Rhino and WeatherBeeta blankets.. definitely Tudor tack then. they'll order you in anything they don't have in stock as well (I h ave to order 86" blankets and 6" bits, and they are usually in within a month of ordering). they have a huge selection of blankets.

I second Before you ride. They are the nicest people there and answer your questions even when you're not buying from them.
A new high end english store opened up on 172 st and 107 ave called Horse Life.
GreenHawk isn't coming here for at least another year... I need to win the lottery!

Re: Awesome tack store in Edmonton?
G & E Pharmacy is my fav, mostly because I have a wide plethora of critters to burn my money on and they carry it all. I like Tudor as well, but their prices not so much... It's good if you can find a sale. I've been to a few second hand stores in Sherwood Park that I thought were a total rip-off.
Re: Awesome tack store in Edmonton?
G&E Pharmacy and Before you Ride are both great. What I like about Before you Ride is that you can try their saddles out for a week and if they don't work you can take them back. Worked well for me as I have a gelding that I am having problems trying to get a saddle that works for him. Both have a great selection of stuff but I am with Jezzabelle --- you can spend a paycheque really fast at G&E if you own horses and dogs/cats.
Re: Awesome tack store in Edmonton?
G & E Is My #1 pic. Ride in the park {Sherwood pk} Tack & things by Beaumont have some nice English stuff. Only western Tack seems to be lammeles & Welshes but don't often find what I want there as far as tack goes but seem to find other stuff,lol..Ride in the park {new & Used} I find started off not bad but find it is now too overpriced.
