Hello from Edmonton!
Hi everyone!
I ride and show dressage and have for nearly 10 years, currently I am training with Bonny Bonello. I live in Edmonton and my horse is boarded near Spruce Grove. I'm also in university, which takes up most of my time, but in my spare time I participate in and promote the sport of dressage. Right now I'm marginally involved in both the EAADA (Edmonton and Area Alberta Dressage Association) and AJYRA (Alberta Junior and Young Riders Association), and I'm planning on getting more involved when I'm done school. If you ever have any questions about dressage, rules, regulations, shows, clinics, etc.. then just send me a PM and I will try to help you out!
Also, you can call me D&R, Dressage&Rhinestones is a little much to type out all the time

Re: Hello from Edmonton!
Hey, welcome to the forum! Looking forward to asking a ton of questions about the Dressage scene around Edmonton... Where do you usually show, if you don't mind me asking? (have you ever been to the Amberlea Meadows shows or anything?)

Re: Hello from Edmonton!
Amberlea hosts most (usually all) of the EC Gold dressage shows around Edmonton, so yes I actually compete there a lot! This year they are also the facility for the first dressage CDI in Western Canada ever.
This year I probably won't be attending any of Amberlea's shows, except for EAADA's Gold Rush (The CDI) because I'm going to be in Airdrie with my horse to train.
In Red Deer, the Westerner is the main place for there to be shows, although Burnt Lake and other stables in the area host a lot of schooling (Bronze or Discovery) shows. I show at the Westerner quite a bit.
In Calgary the only Gold dressage show is usually at Anderson's Ranch (it has a new name now but I'm totally blanking), and Carrots and Cocktails usually runs a few Bonze shows in the spring at various barns.
Claresholm isn't having a Gold sow this year, just a Bronze, and that's at the Ag Center.

Re: Hello from Edmonton!
Welcome! I too ride dressage though it has been a few years since I have done much of it. Just curious, is there any sporthorse type breed shows that I can show a young horse in hand in? I have a young mare I would love to get out for some exposure. Thanks!
Re: Hello from Edmonton!
At dressage shows all there is is young horse material classes which are under saddle and the young horse tests which are also under saddle.
The only thing I could think of is finding a sporthorse inspection and going to that. I know when I used to have a mare, we took her to the Hano inspections to get her into the studbook and there were mares there solely to compete because they were already inspected and in the studbook.
I totally forget where the CW inspections are and when they are, but if you googled it I'm sure it would pop up! There's also CSH... Again I have no idea when/where the inspection is.
Good luck!
