Now that I have your attention Smile

This is Wilma. We have never had any of our stallion breed donkeys before. But by the looks of things our young colt, who no doubt just wanted to give her a kiss as he felt sorry for her having such Long ears and not the sexyest of legs, took it a little to far. Laughing

This foal will be a henny. A horse stallion bred to a donkey. Not a mule (donkey bred to a horse). As the sire is a double cream dilute. We are so hoping for a Buckskin or Palomino.
Mules are common, but it is rare to have a donkey carry full
term with a horse.

So are there noticable differences between henny's and mules? Interesting tidbit of info, I love longears and would love to learn more about them cute critters!

I guess by looks not much difference it is just the ablity for a donkey to carry a half horse due to the cromazones (yeah I`m a BAD speller!).
I honestly don`t know. I didn`t even know she was bred! Our other stallions never bothered our jennies before and since Sueno never saw one till he came here I didn`t expect him to bother either!
But she could of been breed, by the looks of it anyways, around the same time Sueno bred the 4 mares we are waiting on right now. OR he might of bred them while they where still in the corral for his first winter. Like horses, Donks can foal 2 weeks early or two weeks late but they do carry for 365 +/- days.

Well, we`re keeping a close eye on her. I was told she could possibly be having twin and not to worry as much with donkey twin as they are more common in Donks then horses and the foals are usually both excepted, healthy and live.
I`m hoping it`s just water...most likely be a colt...

I wish I could give her a big squeeze and poop that baby out of there!
I`m hoping it is just water.. her last foal, a jenny she looked this way about a week before she foaled on Mother`s Day!

Her daughter is going to foal before her. We expect to see another set of ears greeting us everytime we go out...teats are longated and udder firm on the daughter (Pebbles) where as Wilma (jenny in photo) her teats are smaller but her bag is growing nice.
They`ll come they come and I`m going nuts waiting! LOL With what Sueno has been producing(he`s the sire of all the foals we`ve posted so far Smile

)

I can`t wait to see what these half-A** foals will be like! Laughing

Henny's look more like horses. Generally don't have the big ears and just have that horse look to them where a mule look like their smaller counterparts or large ones depending on what you breed to. So ya!

Congrates though.... I thought the mare that we had at the farm was big when she was prego but that donkey puts her to shame. LOL! Hope you get a healthy baby or two.

Hennies and Mules are very close a like. Mules have feet more like a horse though where as most hennies ( all I`ve seen) have feet more like a donkey. When they can get them a lot of outfitters prefer hennies over Mules due to a henny being more surefooted and like a donkey more careful and slower in putting the hooves down. : )
Either way. Half horse, half A**, more ear, less tail! LOL
