Hi All,

I have only been riding for a little more than a year I would say I am experienced beginner - intermediate rider. I do however have a bit of a confidence problem Embarassed But a huge love for horses. I live West of Edmonton and am currently looking for my first horse. I ride western and would love to find a great confidence builder.

We are in the process of setting up our acreage for a horse(s) that will be part of the family forever! He/she will have a new barn and lots room to spend the days soaking up lots of love and attention.

I am looking for a great all around bombproof horse, with:

  • a great mind
  • SAFE around kids, dogs, highways, ATV's alone or in a group, great on trails etc..
  • patience to help me teach my husband and children how to ride, but be able to work for me as well
  • no bolt, buck, rear or bite/kick
  • Loves attention
  • Not Spooky
  • Good ground manners
  • Loads, bathes, clips well
  • Stands well for Ferrier, saddling etc.

Please no bad vices or heath problems, we really want this horse to be a part of our family for a long, long time.

I know I am asking for a lot but I am in need of a confidence builder, if you know of a horse that may fit in with our family, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you all for your time Smile

Hi There,

Any breed, sex, or colour specifications? Also what are you looking at spending on a horse; I may know of a couple who are suitable.

Looking for my fist horse... Empty quarter horse gelding

Post  hoppyhills@hotmail.com Mon Apr 13, 2009 3:30 pm

I have a 16 year old bay gelding that would be very appropriate for you. He just turned 16 but does not look 16. He is in excellent shape. Has been ridden lots and been to poker rallies and the mountains many times. He loads well, stands good for ferrier, likes attention and no buck in him. He is a dark bay with a bit of white on his nose. Have papers as well. Very nice horse and would be a good horse for beginner. He is about 15 hh maybe a bit more. I think you would be very happy with him. Call me (Dale) at (403) 729-3900 or on my cell at (403) 350-7824.

hey,
if you're still looking for a family horse, I may know the horse for the job. We have 2 that may suit you, 1 has been there and done that the other is a nice trail riding horse, both grey 15 hh and have been ridden by children and adults, in company or alone. Let me know if you want more info or pics
