Looking for a coach

Post  sunsnowsimplicity on Wed Mar 25, 2009 10:26 am

I'm looking for a coach ~ I've been riding for 15 or so years, used to compete on the maritime h/j circuit, but since moving to AB I have no idea where to find a coach. The lesson stables I've checked out all seem to cater to beginners or juniors. I'm interested in h/j, possibly getting back into competition, but am out of shape so flat lessons would be required for at least a little while Smile

Thanks!

Have you spoken to Dukes Ranch.

I know they do h/j but not sure to what level. They are on 50th Street just south of Ellerslie Road.

A good idea would be to go to a show and watch the coaches with their students and see how the students ride before you decide who you want to ride with. I'm not huge into hunter jumpers so I don't know many coaches or barns, but that is how I like to find coaches Smile

The main jumping coach at Duke Ranches has moved to Amberlea Meadows (Cheryl Kazemir, Fred Dukes step daughter), she teaches from the beginner levels to much more advanced. There are 2 instructors, geared more to the beginner levels (under 3ft) still at Dukes Ranches though (Jody teaches tuesdays and saturdays for jumping, Kim Lansdell teaches jumping on thursdays)
